Generalized Anxiety Disorder
Generalized anxiety is a condition where excessive, repetitive worry dominates our thinking. We may have a lot of “what if” thinking or wonder about the worst-case scenario. This type of anxiety can interfere with the ability to sleep, work, or function.

Depression
Persistent low mood, low motivation, difficulty focusing, and feelings of hopelessness are just a few features of depression. You don’t need a formal diagnosis to begin therapy. Psychotherapy can help improve one’s mood and functioning.

Relationships
Individual therapy is offered for those coping with various types of interpersonal conflict, relationship breakdown, divorce, separation or parent-child conflict. Using attachment theory, we can better understand the needs, responses, and behaviours that show up in relationships. A therapist can also help support rebuilding & accepting the loss of a meaningful relationship.

Perfectionism or Procrastination
Maintaining unattainably high standards for ourselves can be anxiety-provoking and lead to procrastination and feelings of inadequacy. Psychotherapy, along with practical strategies, can help shift the repetitive cycle and find balance while still striving toward your goals.

Social Anxiety
Anxiety in social situations, fear of judgment and worry about what others will think can cause us to avoid social situations and ultimately exacerbate the anxiety. Therapy can help us understand the worrisome thoughts behind the anxiety and gradually expose us to situations we have been avoiding, thus lowering the anxiety and improving our quality of life.

Health Anxiety
Our brain tries to keep us safe by scanning the body for sensations that could be a health condition. However, constant scanning of our bodies can often lead us to overestimate the worst outcome, research symptoms and become preoccupied with worry. The good news is that the worry and reactions that keep health anxiety going can be managed with psychotherapy.

Life Transition

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder OCD

Burnout
Perhaps you’re newly married, or you’re recently single again. Perhaps you’re approaching retirement or starting a new job. While change is necessary, it can produce confusing or anxious feelings. Looking for ways to cope with transition can help one manage the situation and offer a different approach.
OCD is marked by intrusive, distressing thoughts often followed by rituals to find relief. It can affect one’s functioning, emotional health, and quality of life. Therapists use exposure-response prevention (ERP) to help reduce the symptoms of OCD and improve one’s quality of life.
Work/life balance is important for good mental health. When balance does not exist, we can find ourselves feeling irritated, depressed, overwhelmed and frustrated. Therapy can help explore the individual and environmental factors that contribute to burnout and work with you to shift patterns.

Grief or Loss

Sleep

Fertility
The loss of a meaningful person, pet or aspect of your life can produce a range of emotions. No one experiences loss in the exact same way. Holding space to process your unique experience may help in the healing journey.
Sleep conditions can be caused by a variety of reasons. Chronic sleep issues can result in mood changes, reduced motivation, brain fog, reduced immune function and increase risk for medical concerns. If worry, anxiety or ineffective sleep habits are interfering in your ability to get a good night’s rest, cognitive-behavioural therapy for insomnia (CBT-i) may be able to help.
People struggling with fertility can experience a range of emotions. The stress can contribute to conflict in one’s relationship, shame and blame. Working with a therapist to process your feelings and find ways to cope may help you through the process.

Trauma
Trauma is our nervous system’s response to a traumatic event versus the event itself. Healing our nervous system starts with understanding its response to the event and reprocessing it from a new lens.

Phobias
It is unlikely that we want to face the thing we fear, so the natural response is to avoid it. When we do that, the phobia remains unchanged and possibly develops further. If you have a phobia you can’t avoid any longer and want to find relief, psychotherapy can help.
